The Sister Pact
by Stacie Ramey
A suicide pact was supposed to keep them together, but a broken promise tore them apart
Allie is devastated when her older sister commits suicide - and not just because she misses her. Allie feels betrayed. The two made a pact that they'd always be together, in life, and in death, but Leah broke her promise and Allie needs to know why.
Her parents hover. Her friends try to support her. And Nick, sweet Nick, keeps calling and flirting. Their sympathy only intensifies her grief.
But the more she clings to Leah, the more secrets surface. Allie's not sure which is more distressing: discovering the truth behind her sister's death or facing her new reality without her.

Stacie Ramey learned to read at a very early age to escape the endless tormenting from her older siblings. Where the Wild Things Are was her first favorite book and she swore she’d only marry a man who could prove he had rumpus in his heart!
She attended the University of Florida, where she majored in communication sciences, and Penn State where she received a Master of Science degree in Speech Pathology. She also met her future husband at Penn State, who surprised her one day with all of the stuffed Wild Things’ characters, proving his worth.
She currently works with high school aged Autistic kids, introducing them to the literary worlds she grew up loving. When she’s not working or writing, she engages in Netflix wars with her children or beats her husband in Scrabble, all while watching the Florida Gators and Penn State Nittany Lions play (Go Gators).
She lives in Florida with her husband, children, and rescue dogs.
Her debut young adult novel (THE PACT) is due out November 2015 (Sourcebooks Fire).

Author Interview
Please welcome Sister Pact author Stacie Ramey to Diane's Book Blog.
What is your favorite part of THE
SISTER PACT?
I love when Allie paints, after
she’s regained her art. When she did that, I was cheering from the sidelines!
What books have most influenced
your life?
WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE was the
first book I remember reading to myself and I was amazed at the images and the
beautiful lyrical words (even though I didn’t think in those terms back then).
OF MICE AND MEN changed my life in that it made me want to work with disabled
kids (which I do) and EAST OF EDEN really opened up the world for me in so many
ways.
What book are you reading now?
I’m currently reading BONE GAP but TENDER
MORSELS and THE WEIGHT OF FEATHERS are on deck.
How long did it take you to write THE SISTER
PACT?
It took me about a year and a half to write it
and then it went through many different rounds of revisions that took much
longer.
What is your typical day like?
I work in the public schools as a speech
language pathologist primarily working with students with autism. When I get
home from that job, I try to work out, cook healthy meals, and, of course,
write. Writing could include doing social media, blogging, participating in
interviews (like this one!), or writing and/or revising one of my manuscripts.
There’s so much that goes into the business of writing that it takes up quite a
bit of time.
Character Interview
Please welcome Allie from Stacie Ramey's Sister Pact to Diane's Book Blog.
What is your full name? Do you have a nickname?
Allison Leann
Blackmore is my full name, but no one really knows that. I go by Allie.
Who are the people you are closest to?
That’s a toughie. I’m kind of going through a
transition period. I used to be super close to my sister, Leah, but she’s no
longer here. I’m starting to wonder if my besties, Emery and Max are really on
my side. Time will tell.
What is your favorite journey?
I went on a ski trip with my family a few years
ago. Leah was pissed at Dad so she made him pay for new clothes, expensive
meals. You name it, we charged it.
Which talent would you most like to have?
I wish I could sing really well. I think that
would be cool.
What or who is the greatest love of your life?
I’m not sure I’ve met the greatest love of my
life. At least I hope I haven’t because, even though Nick’s into me, he’s a
little vanilla for my tastes. And Max, my longtime serious love? He’s another
story entirely.
What is your biggest fear?
That I won’t be able to find my art and then
I’ll be as lost as Leah was before she killed herself.
