Rafe Avery, a sidhe warrior and protector of dreams, is challenged to remove the black rose of darkness and help the one chosen to replace the white iris. Time has run out. The gates of Elysium and the magic portals will close to humankind, leaving them to the mercy and control of the revenge-seeking demon. Is Rafe’s love strong enough to break evil bonds and bring the darkness to justice?
Character Interview
Diane: Please welcome Rafe Avery and Lara Clint from Jaylee Austin’s Faerie’s Ring to Diane’s Book Blog.
Rafe and Lara: Thank you.
Diane: What is your full name? Do you have a nickname?
Rafe: Rafael Avery, my friend’s call me Rafe
Lara: Lara Rose Clint
Diane: What is your favorite journey?
Rafe: I was assigned by Queen Mab of the Donne mound to help a human soul-retriever save the vortexes in the city called Sedona; I cringed at the idea until the day I laid eyes on the fiery lioness, Lara.
Lara: Traveling to The Fair Family mounds and learning of my previous past life.
Diane: Where were you born? Where have you lived since then? Where do you currently call home?
Rafe: I was born in a small village outside of the Queen’s castle in Sandovia, a province of the faerie mounds. Gaston was a happy community with revilers, craftsman, and the dream catchers. As minder and advisor I lived at Hampton Palace. I now reside in Sedona and oversee the gates of entry along the western borders of the America’s.
Lara: I grew up in Los Angeles, California and moved to Sedona, Arizona when I was nineteen. I was a tour guide for Redstone tours. I bought a house in uptown Sedona and turned the front half into a boutique, Ler’shy’s. We still live there.
Diane: What is your most treasure possession?
Rafe: My most treasured artifact is my arrowhead given to me from the Oak of my childhood to help me find my way home through the astral plane.
Lara: My soul-catchers, I have a variety of bracelets I use to restore the lost pieces of a person soul.
Diane: Who are the people you are closest to?
Rafe: My twin brother is eternally connected to me. One of my closest friends is Tillion, shifter djinn, who saved my life during the dreaded troll wars of my homelands. Today, he joins me in weeding out the shifters who come to the realms hoping to cause a new war between humans and fae.
Lara: My best friend, Sheri.
Diane: What is in your refrigerator right now? On your bedroom floor? On your nightstand? In your garbage can?
Lara: I can answer for the two of us. Rafe loves shellfish and nuts so our pantry and fridge have plenty of both. Lots of salad greens. Honey crisp apples fill the fruit drawer. Our bedroom is clean with stone tile floors and a homemade weaved rug purchased from the local Indian tribe. On occasion a pile of dirty clothes can be found in the closet. On my nightstand are my carved totems that guide me during meditation. Our garbage can is filled with snicker wrappers. Rafe tries to hide them from me but on any given afternoon there’s at least a handful of mini snicker wrappers in the trash.
Diane: Who is the greatest love of your life?
Lara and Rafe: Each other.
Diane: Who is your favorite hero of fiction? In real life?
Lara: Spiderman helped me through some difficult challenges in my life. The superhero resonated with my heart and I find answers to problems through playing Spiderman video games. In life it’s Tom, my best friends father. Tom is a practicing Shaman healer and my greatest teacher.
Diane: What is your motto?
Rafe: Open your eyes, Open your dreams, Open your heart to all that exist around you. There is magick to be found in the hearts of all who share this dimension together.
Lara: Release any guilt you harbor and forgive the ones who’ve harmed you.
Diane: Thank you for stopping by.
