Ariel and Nick face their deepest fears and their greatest challenge as they search for the Master Demon who holds the key to the future of mankind. Slay him and the world goes free; fail, and it falls irrevocably into violence and chaos.
Guided by a wisdom master of a mystical tradition that uses mind power as the basis of powerful magic, the assault party travels from the ancient granite walls of the Hermitage, up the Steps of Death, and through a labyrinth of shifting gorges to the Palace of Skulls. Even if Nick wins his struggle with the scars of his past and defeats the green-eyed head of the Cogin clan, they still must cross the scree slope, where the bones of Ariel's father lie, to get to the ice caves beneath the summit where the Master Demon awaits.
The journey is extraordinary, the enemies are deadly and the ending is mind-blowing.

Interview
Please welcome Diamond Peak Series author Tahlia Newland to Diane's Book Blog.
What is your
favorite part of the Diamond Peak Series?
My favorite
part is the end of the whole series. It really is mind blowing. I also like the
journey through Magan lands in book 2, Stalking Shadows, because Kestril is so
unpredictable, and I like it when Nadima does something entirely unexpected
with a demon in book three, Demon’s Grip. Even I didn’t know she was going to
do it until I wrote it.
How long did
it take you to write the Diamond Peak Series?
I started in
2007, and found an agent for Lethal Inheritance in 2010. Two years later I had
all the books completed, so that’s 5 years for 4 books.
If you were
stranded on a desert island which of your characters do you want by your side?
Nick Walker.
He’s just my kind of guy. That’s the great thing about being a writer, you can
create your own dream man! He’s also an outdoor kind of guy, experienced in
hiking, handy with a knife and full of amusing banter to keep your spirits up.
What
inspired you to write your first book?
The scenes
just started appearing in my head and I had to write them down, they were so
vivid. I also found the idea of writing a series where the demons feed on fear
really interesting, and I’d never seen anyone else do it. How do you defeat
them? Answering that was a challenge. I
had to turn the mind into a weapon
What is your
favorite book that you wrote?
Eternal
Destiny, the final book in the series. There’s so much in it that is exciting
and emotionally and spiritually challenging and uplifting. There’s also some
very unusual bits, like the scenes with Nick and the crone at crows nest.
What's your
favorite book-turned movie?
I think they
did a really good job of Divergent. So often they ruin books with bad casting,
but the casting was perfect in it.
Can you
share a little of your current work with us?
My next book
is an adult work. It’s called Prunella Smith: Worlds Within Worlds. It’s
metaphysical fiction with thriller and fantasy elements, and it has several
interconnecting strands of dreams, memories, physical reality, online reality
and spiritual experience that wind around a central theme of cyber bullying and
stalking. It’s a very unusual book. I’ve released part of it as a short story
called Sacred Striptease.
What do you
prefer paperback, hardcover, or ebooks?
Ebooks, they
don’t take up space and are easier on your eyes because you can set the font
size.
Do you have
anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
Read on!
