Demi Redding has used her powers to vanquish demons for years, but when one shows up next door she will be forced to set both her experience and instincts aside to battle a war that has nothing to do with magic, and everything to do with matters of the heart.
As a Keeper of the Innocents, Demi’s load as a guardian reduces with only one charge to take on at a time. However, when her new foe proves to be a force she can neither see nor find, she has no choice but to doubt the so-called good intentions of the stranger one door down.
Rhyzel Connor is not your average neighbor by any means. The red specks of color in his green eyes alone sets him apart and his demonic heritage makes him an easy target. Because of who he is he can’t afford a mistake that will result in his demise, but the fact that he knows way too much about Demi quickly raises the suspicion veil over him.
There is a mission he must complete, and secrets he must fight hard to keep, but the biggest hardship he must face will be forfeiting his life in order to save Demi’s.

Character Interview:
Please welcome Rhyzel Connor from Kristy Centeno's Keeper Witches Series to Diane's Book Blog.
What is your name? Do you have a nickname?
Rhyzel Connor. I have no nicknames as far as I know.
What is your hair color? Eye color?
Brown colored hair. Green eyes-most days anyway.
They tend to turn red when the demon in me takes over.
How old are you?
21, soon to be 22.
Where were you born? Where have you lived since
then? Where do you currently call home?
My mother says I was born in California. I think my
birth certificate is forged so I might have been born elsewhere.
I’ve lived all over the place. Here and there. I
can’t stay in one place for too long or demons will find me. Right now, my one bedroom
apartment is my home. In a few weeks, that might not be the case.
What is in your refrigerator right now? On your
bedroom floor? On your nightstand? In your garbage can?
There’s one gallon of milk, one gallon of orange
juice, leftover meatloaf, bottled water, butter, mayonnaise, a carton of eggs, and
ham and cheese in my refrigerator right now.
The clothes I took off after my shift at the
warehouse are on the floor, I think. That being said, I’ll go pick them up as
soon as we wrap this interview up. Demi might come over later and I don’t want
her thinking I’m a slob.
There’s trash in my garbage can. That one might be
obvious. I really don’t think to look what’s in there once I toss things out.
Who are the people you are closest to?
My mother and Demi.
Who is your funniest friend?
I don’t stay in one place long enough to make
friends, sorry.
What is your biggest fear?
I have more than one fear. I fear giving into my
demon side completely. I fear hurting Demi. I fear she’ll get hurt because of
me. I fear my mother will get sucked up into the demon world because of me.
What or who is the greatest love of your life?
The only girl I’ve ever fallen for is Demi.
What is your greatest regret?
Having to prove to Demi that she did have reasons to
doubt my good intentions.
Which talent would you
most like to have?
I can make myself
invisible. Why would I want another talent? There’s nothing that can top that.
Or is there?
Which living person do you most admire?
My mother. Even after finding out I would be born
half demon, she loved, cared, and protected me even by putting her life at risk
year after year. I can never thank her enough for being the woman and mother
she is.
Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
None that I’m aware of.
What is your motto?
If you can beat ‘em join ‘em.
Everything happened so fast I couldn’t even react. Stunned, I just stood there for a moment trying to size up my attacker. Before I even glanced up to look at his face I could tell something was off with him, but because of my nervousness, it was hard to tell for sure. He’d come out of nowhere, and if he intended to kill me, I was easy prey.
I was prepared to see some form of evil glaring down at me, but what I found when I glanced up was definitely not what I was expecting. The handsome stranger staring at me was hot. Not just your average Joe kind of hot. No. This was like the kind of hot that makes a girl want to sin in ways she’d never done before.
His pale skin, tousled, bronze colored hair, and full lips were striking to look at, but his eyes left me completely speechless.
Perfectly round green eyes stared back at me and though they were gorgeous all on their own, it was the few specks of red in his irises that I found beautiful and so unusual. I was left with my mouth hanging open. I’d never seen eyes that color before and no matter how many times my brain yelled at me to look away, I just couldn’t. I was drawn to him. To his unique eyes. To the mystery that shrouded him.
