Interview:

Please welcome all six Heat Wave authors: Maggie Wells, Maddie James, Wendi Zwaduk, Madison J. Edwards, Evelyn Jules, and Bella Masters to Diane's Book Blog.

If you were stranded on a desert island which of your characters do you want by your side?

Maggie: Oh man. This is a tough one. I think if I had to choose one, I’d choose Steve Larson from Seducing Steve. He’s a bit of a nerd, but a hot one. That, and I cannot resist a Southern man. The drawl, the manners, the occasional “Yes, ma’am.” *sigh*

Maddie: Meg from A Perfect Escape, because she, well, was stranded on a deserted island. I figure she has experience, so I’d want her to have my back. After all, she avoided a sniper and even ended up shooting the guy in the end. Of course, she had a little help from hunky Smyth….  (wouldn’t you wanted to be stranded on a deserted island with a hunky guy named Smyth?)

Wendi: Quint. He’s sweet and doesn’t have to take charge – although he can – and he’s great in the sack. We’d never be bored.

Madison: Oh no – that’s like asking which one of your kids do you like best.
Thinking…. thinking…. still thinking….
Jonah Carter.
The man has the patience of Job, and believe me he’d need it on that island with me. My Cajun hero is not afraid of hard work, having worked the oil rigs off the coast of Louisiana, so he’d have a shelter built in no time. And later on, in that shelter… *sigh* …sheer bliss

Evelyn: It would make sense to choose one of my male characters for obvious reasons. However, I would choose Elena Armstrong, from Cheapskates in Love. Why? Because she’s funny, feisty, and incredibly resourceful. If faced with the prospect of spending even twenty minutes on a deserted island, she’d go full-out Tom Hanks in Cast Away and have a raft built in less time than it would take for me to cry, “Wilsonnnnnn!”

Bella: Hm. As unlikely as it may sound, I would want Mary Kate Wells from The Bachelorette Part series. She’s resourceful and daring, even though she projects innocence. At the very least, she’d be a great conversationalist—you know, for those long lonely days….

What's your favorite book-turned movie?

Maggie: Well, I am a Gone With the Wind junkie, and though there are large discrepancies between the book and the film, I don’t think anyone can argue that the casting was perfection.

Maddie: This is a difficult one to respond do because, a) I always have a difficult time picking favorites of anything—too many choices, you know? and b) I often do not watch the movies that are inspired by books that I have read because I generally either read the book, or watch the movie—not both. But forced to choose I would have to say Gone With The Wind.

Wendi: Field of Dreams. I didn’t like the book as much as the movie, until I read the book again, then watched the movie. I could appreciate some of the liberties taken with the movie, but found a new appreciation for the book. Plus, young Ray Liotta in a baseball uniform. Score!
Madison: Pride and Prejudice – every version and adaptation.

Evelyn: Lord of the Rings, without question. The movies bring the books to life in outstanding detail. Plus, it’s kinda nice lookin’ at Aragorn and Legolas. Now, if I could only find a man like Aragorn....

Bella: I am not a regular move-goer. I am interested to see how FSOG is treated on the set, however.

What do you prefer paperback, hardcover, or ebooks?

Maggie: I read mainly in ebook. I rarely ever buy hardcover. I like paperbacks, but now I find myself becoming annoyed at having to prop them open if I want to read while eating my lunch.

Maddie: I have no preference. A book is a book is a book. I own and read all three. Generally it depends on how it comes to me.

Wendi: Depends on my mood. Sometimes I like having the hardcover right there. I know the spine won’t get messed up and it’s heavier. I feel like I’ve accomplished something after reading a hardcover. Paperbacks are better than hardbacks in that they are more portable. You can slide one of those into your purse or bag with ease. I love the smell of the paper, so that’s a plus. Ebooks...I love ebooks. I write ebooks. I’m not so avid about taking my eReader with me everywhere. Yeah, I have the old Sony one. You know, that first generation one. Still works nicely, too. I like it, but there’s not the scent of the paper or the feel of turning pages. I like the cover art, but it’s not as crisp (not on my machine) as some (it’s better on my nook). That said, I can take it just as many places and take all my ebooks if I want. So they’ve all got their pluses. 

Madison: All of the above.

Evelyn: I tend to fear and rebel technology rather than embrace it, but ebooks are one technological advancement I can get behind. Gone are the days when my hands cramped from holding a paperback for too long. I’ll never be judged for dog-earing my pages again!

Bella: ebooks — they are portable and I’m on the go, a lot.

What do you like best about having your story included in a boxed set?

Maggie: I love the variety of stories available in a set. I always discover an author I may never have tried before. Boxes are a great value for avid readers (like me!) and a great way for authors to get their work out to a broader audience.

Maddie: I like offering my book at a discounted price with a group of varied authors. I think it provides the readers with great value and a varied experience—plus new authors to try. I also would hope that it brings new readers to me and to all of the authors in the set.

Wendi: What’s not to like about having a tour with some of your most favorite people. Madison J Edwards and I can get into plenty of trouble in person. Imagine the trouble we can cause online. I also love the variety. Each writer tackles the heat with a different angle. The set allows readers to find authors that might be new to them as well as the erotic subgenre they love all in one package. Sweet!

Madison: I like the idea that readers can go from one spicy story to the next, and like any good spice rack – they’re all different, yet blend to make the perfect boxed set. Just put a bow on it and take it to the next bridal shower.

Evelyn: I love the ‘team’ aspect of being in a boxed set with a group of authors. We’re all familiar with the expression of ‘two heads are better than one’. In this case, six heads are better for sexy times. ;)

Bella: I’m a relatively new author name. It’s great to be included in this set with established authors to help grow a reader base. I think box sets are an incredible value for the buyer, and a chance to find new authors.

Diane's Book Blog:  Thanks for the fun interview.  Good luck, Heat Wave sounds like a fantastic box set.
