The Alpha's Heart by R.E. Butler
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
The only woman whom Alpha wolf Acksel Moore ever wanted was a human that wolf law prevented him from claiming. Now that he is Alpha, he changed the laws to allow wolf-shifters and humans to become mates. However, he is afraid of how the pack would treat the woman he wants and decides she is better off without him.
Human Brynn Mara has liked wolf Acksel Moore since high school. She is shocked years later when he winds up on her doorstep drunk. The night leads to a one-night-stand with an unexpected pregnancy. Exiled pack kidnap Brynn with the intention to destroy Acksel. His fear of her being harmed by wolves is brought to fruition.
The Alpha’s Heart is a brilliant romance packed with excitement. I love that Acksel was progressive enough to change the wolves' rules and bring them into this century. It was clear by his actions and memory of Brynn that he always loved her. They fight the odds to be with each other.
The characters are well developed with lots of history. The supporting characters, including villains, were very believable; making the story an enriching experience.
This is a great book for lovers of paranormal romance.
