About the Author

J.D.Netto (Jorge de Oliveira Netto) is brazilian-born. Raised in Framingham, MA, J.D.Netto always had an eye for epic fantasy and story-telling. At an early age, he had the habit of locking himself in his room, turning on any soundtrack he could find, and there he would write for hours.

During his senior year in High School, J.D.Netto had an idea that changed his life, 'What if Lucifer had a Diary? What if the Diary was a secret? What if the secret was a reality?' These simple questions led him to write for six consecutive years, researching, perfecting his craft, and creating the world of Elysium. All the promotional visuals of the novel, including the cover, were designed by J.D.Netto, proving that he is not only a writer, but an innovative visual designer.

Interview:

I would like to thank J. D. Netto for stopping by today to tell us a little about himself and The Whispers of the Fallen.

How long did it take you to write The Whispers of the Fallen?

I started planning the story when I was seventeen. I was still in high school when I had the desire to write. I started sketching out a comic book, dreaming about my characters and their conflicts. It was only in 2009 that I decided to make my story into a novel. One year later, when I was about halfway done with the first book, I made the decision to publish it. Six years later, on January 2012, I completed The Whispers of the Fallen.

If you were stranded on a desert island which of your characters do you want by your side?

Devin! The guy can hunt. With him on the island, I am sure I would never starve to death.

If you could be best friends with one of your characters, who would it be?

I would choose Isaac as my best friend. Isaac and I are very similar. Despite his struggles, he is a very cool individual.

How do you overcome writer’s block?

No author enjoys writer’s block. I hate staring at my computer for hours, not knowing what to write next. Sometimes I walk away from my desk and I go out with friends, or just sit outside on the porch. When I return, the story is fresh in my mind once again. Music is also a major help - especially movie scores.

Can you share a little of your current work with us?

I am currently working on the second part of The Whispers of the Fallen series. Rebellion introduces the reader to the kingdoms of Elysium. It is also a lot darker than the first novel. I love Whispers, but I am very excited to have readers discover the twists and events on Rebellion.

What book are you reading now?

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. I am a Hunger Games fan.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

Never reach for what is possible. Be bold and dare to believe on what may seem unreachable. We have to learn to see ourselves as true champions. There are many voices in this world, but we must learn to listen to the voices that will strengthen us in our journey.
