Proximity
(The Proximity Series, #1)
by M.A. George
BOOK BLURB
Dr. Palta Capal would be a typical American career woman…if only she were human.
She has found her calling in this world as a physician. It’s an ideal outlet for her compassionate spirit…and unearthly healing powers.
Palta may spend her nights rereading Jane Austen novels, but she deliberately avoids pursuing her own love story. Human men—attractive as they may be—inevitably grow old and wither, leaving her to grieve in solitude. Frankly, no one has seemed worth the torment.
Enter Eric Moran, the intensely attractive and enigmatic new coworker on the scene. With his quiet confidence and warm smile, he manages to draw Palta’s attention. Little does she know that he, too, holds a secret…one that will propel them both into an escalating collision of two worlds.
AUTHOR BIO:
M. A. George is part proud mother of two adorable children, part super top secret agent…Oops, probably just lost that job.Writing is what keeps her up into the wee hours of the night. Fortunately, she has a lot of energy (Read: caffeine is her friend). She has a bit of an obsession with music (It does a fantastic job of tuning out rambunctious children while she attempts to focus).
She sincerely hopes people out there enjoy reading her work as much as she enjoys writing it. And if anyone hears of work for a super top secret agent, she’s now available (Discretion guaranteed…).

Author Interview:
I would like to welcome author M. A. George and thank her for taking the time for an interview.
What is your favorite part of the Proximity Series?
As much as I
enjoy the tender moments between Palta and Aeron, or amongst the members of
Palta’s family, it’s her interactions with the cantankerous Nangí that always
bring a smile to my face. You get the
sense that in all his many years, he’s never met someone who can counter his
snarky attitude quite like Palta. When
the two find themselves trapped together in a flight for their lives—one that
takes them on a whirlwind tour of the galaxy and beyond—it gives them an
opportunity to hone their sarcastic banter to perfection. I love the combo of action, suspense, and a
healthy dose of comic relief.
If
you were stranded on a desert island which of your characters do you want by
your side?
Definitely
Palta. Not only because she’s fun,
adventurous, and always manages to find the humor in a situation…but because if
there’s anyone who could figure out how to get us off a deserted island, it
would be Palta. Either that, or she’d
find some coconuts and make piña coladas.
Who
is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their
work?
Jane Austen
takes that award. I love the way she
draws you into the characters’ lives, so much so that I would swear Elizabeth
Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy actually exist.
And I’m amazed by the way her stories still appeal to a modern-day
generation. They’re absolutely timeless.
What
is your typical day
like?
Organized
chaos. (As I’m sure any working mom
could understand.) Some days it’s more
chaotic than organized. Okay, that
applies to most days…but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
How
do you overcome writer’s block?
I try to be
patient and wait for the ideas to get flowing again. But patience is not always my strong
suit. Music always helps me get in a
writing state of mind. And if I’m really
struggling, I pop in a movie. It never
fails, as soon as I finally make it through all the previews, I have an
irrepressible need to shut it off and go get some story ideas down.
Can
you share a little of your current work with us?
It’s a YA
fantasy, told from the point of view of a seventeen-year-old girl. She’s always lived a beach life—only thanks
to her nomadic mother, it’s never the same beach from one year to the
next. Soon after two local guys welcome
her to the latest coastal home town, she starts to question her own
sanity. Not only do they have some
impossible tricks up their sleeves, but one of them claims to know her nonexistent
father. Things turn a lot more
interesting when she learns just how deep her ties to the water really go.
What
book are you reading now?
Cassandra
Clare’s Clockwork Angel. (I know, I’m ten miles behind in finally
getting to it. What can I say? My TBR pile is gargantuan. ) I’m totally
sucked in…and don’t you dare tell me what happens. Now, back to reading…J
Thanks so much for the interview, Diane! It was a pleasure stopping by. :)
