USA Today bestselling author Sawyer Bennett hits the ice with the story of a playboy athlete whose winning ways lead him to a beautiful woman with a lot to lose.

Carolina Cold Fury star Garrett Samuelson never wants to miss out on a single minute of fun. Whether he’s playing hockey, hanging out with friends, or walking the red carpet with a new date on his arm, he lives every day to the fullest. When he meets Olivia Case, he sees someone who’s exactly his type—confident, sexy, smart . . . his next fling. But the more he pursues her, the more Garrett shares a side of himself that other women don’t normally get to see.

Olivia has been keeping a secret. While Garrett lives for the next thrill, Olivia’s not sure she’ll live to see the next day. She’s undergoing treatment for some serious medical issues, and she doesn’t have time for a relationship with no guarantees—especially one with a hot-as-sin womanizer who won’t take no for an answer. But as she gets to know the real Garrett, Olivia can’t help falling for him . . . hard. To reveal the truth would mean risking everything—but you can’t score without taking the tough shots.

Character Interview

Please Welcome Garrett from Sawyer Bennett's Garrett to Diane's Book Blog.

What is your name? Do you have a nickname?

Garrett Samuelson and once, when I was a kid, I was called “Peanut” by my family because apparently I was a pretty small baby. But then I hit a growth spurt and that nickname sort of died.

What is your hair color? Eye color?

Dark brown hair and light green eyes.
How old are you?

26 years old.
Where were you born? Where have you lived since then? Where do you currently call home?
I was born and raised in a small town just outside of Minneapolis. I’m currently living in Raleigh, North Carolina, home of the Carolina Cold Fury professional hockey team.
What is in your refrigerator right now?

Hmmm… let me go see. Okay, half a carton of milk that is still surprisingly fresh, one gooey and mostly rotted cucumber that I just through in the garbage, and about twenty protein shakes.
On your bedroom floor?

Underwear and socks.
On your nightstand?

An alarm clock.
In your garbage can?

One gooey and mostly rotted cucumber.
Who are the people you are closest to?

I’m very close to my parents and siblings, a few of the guys on the Cold Fury team, and closest of all… Olivia.
Who is your funniest friend?

That’s a no brainer… my best friend and teammate, Alex Crossman. We try to outdo each other with dirty jokes.
What is your biggest fear?

Losing Olivia.
What is your most treasured possession?

Olivia.
What or who is the greatest love of your life?

Olivia. Are you seeing a pattern?
Which talent would you most like to have?

I would love to be able to sing worth a damn. I’m pretty off key and Olivia sort of winces when I attempt. I’d think it would be totally romantic to be able to serenade her, but that’s probably not in the cards.
What is the quality you most like in a man/woman?

I value genuineness in a person, be it man or woman. I tend to gravitate toward people that are egoless.
Which living person do you most admire?

Again, that would be Olivia. I watch her battle day in and day out with a smile on her face and with determination in her heart. She’s amazing. There isn’t anything she can’t accomplish.
Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

Um… I’m embarrassed to say probably the “F” word.
What is your motto?

Live every day as if it’s your last.
