Passion After Dark by J.A. Melville
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Erotica author, Allegra Anderson, had writer’s block and was on a huge time constraint to finishing the third novel in her series. The last thing she needed to do was go out for the evening with her house mate, Cassie. Little did she know she would meet her inspiration to complete her novel.
The moment vampire, Dominick Cavallo, set eyes on Allegra he knew she is his. Problem is his sire has also set his sight on Allegra.
I enjoyed that the story was told in a two-person point of view. Allegra’s commentaries are pretty entertaining. Dominick’s viewpoints as a vampire are enlightening. J. A. Melville did a good job making you feel like you were reading two different points of view.
The main characters are multi-dimensional. Especially Allegra whom showed a lot of growth through the novel, her confidence gaining as the story went on.
I’m not really sure why, but I found it amusing that Allegra was an erotic book author. I think partially because I know an author wrote about being an author. Additionally, until she met Dominick, she was a bit of a loner and a homebody. She definitely was not writing from experience. That is until she met Dominick.
There are a lot of hot sex scenes in this book, but it also has a good plot. The ending had an unexpected yet believable twist. This is definitely an adult only book for people who enjoy vampire romance.
