Shifter, Liam Doyle knows Hell. At least he believed he did. The night he feels his mate die, he learns how very wrong he was. Nothing he’d struggled with since Ava’s rejection compares to the emptiness that fills his soul by her death. Lost in his grief, he’s taken by surprise and drugged.  When he wakes, everything changes. Nothing is what it seems, and someone is dead set on making him pay.

When Ava Michaels is taken captive, she’s thrust into a dark and terrifying world along with the man she was forced to leave behind. While being near Liam again is heartbreaking, the motive behind her kidnapping is gradually revealed. The more she learns, the more she worries Liam isn’t the man she believed him to be. He has enemies willing to do anything to extract their revenge. Can their love survive a crazy man’s vengeance?

About the Author:

Ever since Abby Niles picked up her first Sweet Valley High book in sixth grade and fell in love with Elizabeth and Todd, she’s been hooked on romance. By the time she reached high school, she was devouring meatier romances with pirates, cowboys and knights. She never imagined that those years of reading would one day lead to her becoming a published author.

In her late twenties, after having twins and becoming a stay-at-home mom, she started doodling stories to keep her sanity. Next thing she knew, she was actually submitting to publishing houses. And was immediately rejected. That didn’t stop her though. She found herself some kickass critique partners, honed her craft, and continued submitting.

And eventually sold a short story, then a novella, then a novel, and now a series.

Today, she juggles work, home life, and writing. It’s not always easy, but hey, who said life was easy?

In her downtime, which isn’t often, you can find her playing ‘Just Dance’ with her kids or trying to catch up on her never-ending to-be-read list. She also loves Zumba, and refuses to admit she looks more like Animal doing his Muppet flail than a sensual Latin dancer.

Guest Post

Today is the release of The Awakening: Liam. I’ve been waiting a long time to share Liam’s story, much longer than both Aidan and Britton’s. You see, it was Liam that sparked the idea for the entire series. When I started writing this series almost eighteen months ago, it was Liam’s story I tried to start with. I wrote the first 15,000 words like I was possessed. At that point, I forced myself to stop and get some input from my awesome critique partners. The response wasn’t what I was expecting. They were intrigued by what I was writing, but overwhelmingly confused at the same time. It was then I realized I didn’t know the world I was trying to build as well as I thought, and the idea of Aidan came about.

Aidan’s story helped me flesh out Liam’s. By the time I was done writing The Awakening: Aidan, I understood my world so much better and knew how to approach Liam’s story so that everyone, even those who had not read the first in the series, wouldn’t be lost.

I think I succeeded in doing that since I’ve already received positive reviews from readers who have not read Aidan’s story. That’s a huge compliment to me as a writer. I didn’t want readers to feel like they had to read Aidan’s story to understand Liam’s. Writing Aidan’s story was for me, so I could give this extraordinary character the story he deserved. I don’t think I would have done Liam’s story justice had I not written Aidan’s first.

Liam is probably one of the most complex character’s I have ever written. From the very start, he was a challenge—an exhilarating challenge. I had a man who was full of life, lived every minute to the fullest, was always happy, take a 180 turn in his personality because his mate rejected him. He was chained to the mercy of the unreciprocated bonding, and nothing would change the future he faced.

Everything about what he is going through, what he faced, is dark, which meant his story would also be dark. I had to tap into a different side of my imagination to write the journey Liam would take. There is one scene toward the end of the book where I bawled while writing it. I’m mean tears gushing down my cheeks, snot running out of my nose, bawled. I’d become so attached to this character the scene broke my heart for him. I remember going downstairs afterwards, my housemate and her kids were watching TV, and they all froze when they saw me. I just burst into tears again, then went into the kitchen and poured myself a stiff drink. Writing and editing this story has been a rollercoaster of emotions, and Liam will always be a very special hero to me. I’m thrilled I finally get to share his story with all of you.

I wanted to thank Diane for hosting me today! Thank you so much for having me!

Diane's Review

The Awakening LiamThe Awakening Liam by Abby Niles
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Shape shifter, Liam Doyle has been suffering from “Dsertion” ever since his mate, Ava, left him. He thought things could not get worse, until he felt her death. Overcome with pain, Liam finds himself at Ava’s apartment, discovering Ava lying on her bed in a pool of blood. Not knowing that he was heading into a trap, Liam is drugged and taken captive at the crime scene.

Ava Michaels wakes up disorientated, being held a prisoner, bound in a strange room. Learning that Liam is being held in the room next to her, Ava experience conflicting feelings as her captor reveals that Liam is the reason she is being held and tortured.

From the start, The Awakening: Liam, was exciting and action packed. This book was original and not just another shape shifter novel. Your heart will go out to the characters as the story develops. Abby Niles did a wonderful job creating this thrilling tale.
