Major Misconduct by Kelly Jamieson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
NHL captain of the Chicago Aces, Marc Dupuis is serious about hockey and respecting his friends. When his teammate/roommate Duncan Armstrong’s little sister, Lovey, moves in with them, he knows he has to respect Duncan’s wishes and not touch his sister. Unfortunately, they have an undeniable chemistry, and Lovey always gets what Lovey wants, and she definitely wants Marc.
Kelly Jamieson’s Major Misconduct is a heart-throbbing book that was impossible to put down. A fantastic start to the Aces Hockey Series!
This book immediately had some things going in its favor for me. First, it is a hockey romance. I love hockey. Next, it is set in Chicago. I was born and raised in Chicago. Now that being said, I can be critical about those subjects and Kelly Jamieson did an excellent job pulling off both topics. She clearly knows her hockey and the City of Chicago. Both are well reflected and believable in the story.
I really liked the characters. It seems like any time I read a hockey romance about a Chicago NHL captain, I automatically associate him with Jonathan Toews, so he instantly goes up a notch. I mean what’s there not to like? Then to top it off, his teammates call him Captain Codger (Toews = Captain Serious). Needless to say, I love Marc. He is an excellent leader, a great hockey player, a good friend and teammate. Plus, he is sexy as hell. He is considerate and caring. Ah the list goes on…...
Lovey is sweet and magnetic. Everyone loves her. I sympathized for her growing up in her brother’s shadow. Although I think, her parents did try to compensate. I see it all the time. My son is an only child, but he plays travel hockey with kids who have siblings. The siblings are dragged around to the practices and games for their older brother or sister. I think a slogan on a tee shirt I saw sums it up, “I have no life. My brother plays hockey." Yup, that was Lovey. I like that she figures out what she wants in life and pursues it. I also, love her motto (see her tattoo) and humor. She is an extremely likable character. The two are an adorable couple that balances each other.
Kelly Jamieson did a commendable job writing Major Misconduct. I enjoyed the plot. The characters are well-developed. The ending was skillfully resolved. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series Off Limits (Aces Hockey #1.5).
