Goal: A Mate (Bachelor Auction Book 2) by Selena Illyria

Goal: A Mate (Bachelor Auction Book 2)Goal: A Mate by Selena Illyria
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Werewolf and ex-hockey player, Brandon Scott, is up for bid at a bachelor auction. Scythe Moon Pack princess and best friend of Brandon’s older sister, Kelly Maxwell, decides to bid on him as a favor.

Goal: A Mate is a fun story that is quick to read.

I get that Kelly would fight her attraction to Brandon being five years older than him and being her best friend’s little brother. Now they are in their thirties, and age is much more irrelevant. I appreciated that Kelly is intelligent and hardworking; almost to a fault ignoring her own needs. She always seems to put her business first.

I like Brandon. I admit that I am a sucker for hockey players, so he has an automatic plus on his side. That being said he is patient and hard working. My heart went out to him that his career ended early due to a shoulder injury.

Kelly’s father’s ruling was a bit harsh but necessary, especially to the plot. It made the main characters get their act together and move forward with their lives instead of avoiding the inevitable. Because let’s face it Brandon and Kelly avoided their feelings for way too long.

I thought the narrative of Kelly’s business and the resolution to fix the problems was cleaver.

Goal: A Mate is an entertaining story. It is a lighthearted read that is easy to finish in one sitting.
