Ares' Temptation by Aubrie Dionne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Ares, god of War, is cursed by a witch at a wedding. In order for him to break the curse, he needs to have mortal, Kaye Underhill, fall in love with him.
Ares' Temptation is a charming novel. I enjoy contemporary mythology stories, and this one was well-done.
Kaye is a worthy heroine. She is genuine and likeable. It was fun watching her develop through the story.
Ares was great. I enjoyed how he stood by Kaye at her family reunion. I also like, that despite being so old he grew in the story.
I like how the curse made Ares and Kaye appreciate the attributes of the other more. Especially, Kaye and her sword fights. She had me giggling.
I will admit that I was a bit disappointed that Poseidon was a bad guy in this book. He is one of my favorite Greek mythology gods, and I don’t like to see him portrayed as evil. Okay, yes, it is probably strange that I have a preferred mythological god, but I am a Pisces it is only logical that I like the guy. That being said, he was a worthy bad guy. I wouldn’t want to mess with him. Plus, his description kind of grossed me out. So as far as bad guys go, well done.
Aubrie Dionne did a great job with this story. The plot was creative and entertaining. The mythology aspect felt right; she did a wonderful job depicting the characters. I really enjoyed the humor throughout the story.
