Cold Blood by Heather Hildenbrand
My rating: 4 1/2 of 5 stars
Tara Godfrey was sent to boarding school at Wood Point Academy to learn about being a Hunter. She is disappointed to be separated from her boyfriend, Wes, who needs to stay home to lead The Cause. If that is not enough, she is shunned by her classmates for having Dirty Blood (being half-Hunter-half-werewolf). Her assigned tutor, Alex, seems to hate her, and her insane cousin, Miles De'Luca, is stalking her.
Tara is a worthy heroine. She is strong and able to endure scrutiny. Nevertheless, her character is very believable with flaws like self-doubt. She is put in a difficult situation and tries to handle it to the best of her ability.
I enjoyed Tara’s relationship with Alex. It was interesting to see how the two developed as they got to know each other better.
The supporting characters, including the bad guys, are credible. They made the story interesting and unpredictable. The non-human entities are well described and fascinating to read about.
Heather Hildenbrand created a convincing world. The plot was well done and exciting. This was a hard book to put down. There were a lot of attention-grabbing events and developments. I will definitely want to continue reading this series.
