My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Isabel Santiago, the Vampire Sage of Bucharest, arrives at the Fae court. She hopes to help ensure the continued success of the Wraith Accords, an alliance formed between the Vampires and the Tuatha de Danann.
Fianna warrior, Aed mac Goll, is assigned to protect Isabel while she is at court. They find themselves attracted to each other, a dangerous situation for them both.
I enjoyed Isabel’s cunning personality. She is quick-witted and smart. She is highly practiced in the art of politics. I liked that she possessed the skills to survive the Fae court but not sink to the level of some of the Tuatha de Danann.
I love that Aed is fiercely loyal. He will protect the Tuatha de Danann even from themselves. I appreciate that he is strong both mentally and physically, and that he is willing to admit his mistakes.
Lila Dubois does a great job describing the environments and reactions of the characters. She has created a believable world that I truly enjoyed.
Carnal Magic is an intriguing and entertaining novel. I liked the combination of Vampires and Fae, although allies, neither faction trusts the other. This makes the story all the more interesting.
