All Hallows Eve Indies Blog Tour: Amanda J. Greene Interview & Giveaway

We're lucky to have Amanda J. Greene with us today for our stop on the All Hallows Eve Indies Blog Tour.  Please welcome her.

Hello everyone!!!

I hope you're all having a wonderful day and enjoying the All Hallows Eve Indie blog tour. Thank you for hosting me today!

What inspired you to write your first book, Caressed by Moonlight?

Caressed by Moonlight (Rulers of Darkness #1) is a historical paranormal romance novel and I really can’t tell you what inspired me to write it. I began writing when I was in middle school and the original draft of Caressed by Moonlight was the first story I had ever written.  History is a passion of mine, I’m even close to earning a history degree, and I’ve been in madly in love with vampires since I was twelve.  The book originally was a stand-alone and it wasn’t until I decided to go back through it and rework the story that I chose to make it into a series.

Who or what inspired you to be a writer?

When I was a child my mom would read a story to me every night before I went to bed. I think that is when I fell in love with the written word. Also, I’ve been told I had an extremely active imagination when I was young and it still rules most of my adult life. Writing has allowed me to express my creativity in a way that nothing else can.
I would have to say that my mom inspired me to write. The bedtime stories were wonderful and as I got older, she would buy me book after book. I had a Barnes & Noble card when I was 13.
As for authors that inspired me, I would say Johanna Lindsey and Amelia Atwater-Rhodes.

What is your typical day like?

HECTIC!
I get up early and go to bed late. I usually take my husband to work around 6am and then I start my day around 9. I work full time at a cosmetology school and I also attend university. I hit the gym for about an hour, head home and do homework between cooking dinner, taking care of the dogs, and spending time with my hubby. When everything quiets down, I try to get some writing and reading done. Thankfully, my husband helps with the cleaning and laundry I would probably never sleep!

How do you overcome writer’s block?

When I run into writer’s block I try my best to clear my mind. I set my laptop aside and bust out a pen and a notebook. Occasionally I’ll play some music and just sit in my room. There is just something about writing by hand. My creativity seems to flow easier when I’m gazing down at a blank piece of paper rather than staring at a stark white computer screen.

What do you prefer paperback, hardcover, or ebooks?

I prefer buying and reading paperback books. However, I do own a Nook and I will download books, which is easier sometimes. Unfortunately, I don’t have much time stop by the store and pick up a load of books. Yes, every time I go to B&N I leave with 5 + books every time. My stack of NEED to read books keeps growing. Soon, it will take over my room.

What book are you reading now?

Currently, I’m reading The Darkest Craving by Gena Showalter and I really like it. Then again, I’ve enjoy her Lords of the Underworld series immensely.

Who is your favorite character in the Rulers of Darkness series?

I love all of my characters, but I do have a few that top the list. Gabriel Erhard from my Rulers of Darkness series is a favorite of mine.  He is tall, blond, with amazingly expressive green eyes. He is ruthless to the core, but has a soft side.  Another one of favorite characters from the same series is Silvie. She is a young, feisty, and extremely powerful witch who has something planned that will change the entire Rulers of Darkness world.
Next would be Gregory Wrothston from one of my works in progress, Passion’s Prey. He is hard, merciless, with a warrior’s body and a fantastic sense of humor.  His book will be awesome! I can’t wait to share him and his story with readers.

Can you share a little of your current work with us?

I’m currently working 2 books: Caressed by Shadows (Rulers of Darkness #4) and Passion's Prey.

Caressed by Shadows has been long awaited by my readers. The hero and heroine have had a thing for each other since book one and are finally getting together. The tentative release date is April 19th, 2014.

Passion's Prey is a stand-alone, but I'm playing around with the idea of making it a trilogy featuring demons, angles, and a few other creatures that may go bump in the night. Even though I wrote the first version of this book years ago, I'm going through a changing just about everything. As of now, there is no tentative release date for Passion's Prey, but I'm hoping to finish it by the middle of next year. Fingers crossed.

Below, I've provided an excerpt from Caressed by Shadows (Rulers of Darkness #4).  Enjoy!!!
Caressed by Shadows (Rulers of Darkness #4) Tentative release: April 19th, 2014

Caressed by Shadows(Rulers of Darkness #4)

Black Knight, Falcon Kenwrec, is powerful, relentless and fiercely loyal, his only allegiance - to his king. But he is torn between duty and desire when the war between the vampire clans and the Red Order hunters escalates and the enemy captures the one woman he longs to claim as his own, Sonya Rebane, Queen of the Voidukas Clan. Falcon will risk everything to save her, even if it means forsaking his king.
After weeks of imprisonment, Sonya is stunned when the chivalrous knight that she has secretly lobed from afar appears outside her cell. As they fight and struggle to elude their enemies, they must also battle their overwhelming attraction for each other and their love that is forbidden.
As every perilous moment draws them closer together, every smoldering kiss drives them to the brink of a passionate destruction. Will they be able to resist temptation? Or will their love be their ruin?

Excerpt:

~ Falcon liberated the guns, before removing the hustler. He double-checked the safety, before setting them on the counter. Next, he began emptying his pockets, methodically laying them out, displaying the various weapons in a neat line. His collection consisted of daggers, throwing stars, and tiny explosives about the size of a pin cap, but she knew they could easily level the building if not a city block. He pulled out the tool kit he used to pick the lock of her cell.
Sonya bit her lip as he peeled the damp shirt over her his head, revealing tight, golden muscle. A fresh wave of heat rushed through her, electrifying every nerve. Her hands circled into fists as she willed herself to remain still. She watched with ravenous eyes as he balled the material and tossed it toward a laundry basket resting before a closet. Was there a washer in there? She decided she did not car. With a shiver she silently prayed his pants would be the next thing to hit the floor.~

Thank you for the fun interview and for hosting me here today. I hope everyone enjoyed the excerpts! And I hope you all have a good time during the All Hallows Eve Indie blog tour. Be sure to hop around.
