Interview:

Please welcome author K. A. Young who has stopped by to answer some questions and share some details about her books.

What inspired you to write your first book?

I can’t exactly pinpoint a specific thing that made me want to write my first book but I can recall that when I began writing it, I never felt more alive.  Everything seemed to build from there.

What is your favorite book that you wrote and why?

My latest release is always my favorite.  I fall in love with each new story and hope I always will.

If you were stranded on a desert island which of your characters do you want by your side?
This is an easy one.  Torch, Elise, Aliene and Van.

If you could be best friends with one of your characters, who would it be?

Elise wins this one hands down.

Who or what inspired you to be a writer?

People inspire me.  Everywhere I go and whatever I do, I see something or someone that makes me think hmm, that could be a fantastic story.

What books have most influenced your life?

That’s a loaded question and not one that I can answer in a few sentences. However, speaking as an paranormal author, I would have to say Karen Marie Moning’s Fever series as it was my first introduction into paranormal world building.

Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?

Darynda Jones is my current obsession.  I love how she combines comedy, mystery and paranormal in her work while wrapping it all up in a tidy little package we refer to as a novel.

What is your typical day like?

Get the kids up for school, check facebook and email, write, watch Max and Ruby with my three year old, write, fix lunch, write, make dinner or run errands, walk to clear my head and write again before bed.

How do you overcome writer’s block?

Baking is my go to when I stressed or blocked. Performing such a menial task allows me to step away from the computer and ponder what I’ve already written and where it should go from there.  So far this works for me. :)

Can you share a little of your current work with us?

My current work in progress is my Elise Michael Series.  Coven book 1 will be released on October 4th and book 2 will shortly follow.

What book are you reading now?

Sadly, I’m not reading anything right now.  Although I recently finished Fifth Grave Past The Light by Daynda Jones.  It was amazing!

What do you prefer paperback, hardcover, or ebooks?

Paperback and hardcover will always hold a special place in my heart but ebooks are far more practical for my life.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

You guys are an unbelievably amazing and supportive group of readers and I can’t thank you enough!  Coven (The Elise Michaels Series, #1) will be dedicated to you!
