Amanda Carlson Cold Blooded Tour: Review, Interview & Giveaway

Cold Blooded (Jessica McClain, #3)Cold Blooded by Amanda Carlson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jessica McClain’s adventure continues in book three, Cold Blooded. Her secretary/best friend Marcy has been kidnapped by sorcerers. Tally, Marcy’s aunt, the most powerful witch in the country is holding Jessica accountable.

Jessica and Rourke are in hiding from the sorcerers and demons who have teamed up against her. They decide to arrive early to New Orleans to seek assistance from the Vampire Queen, Eudoxia. There is never a dull moment in Jessica’s life.

Amanda Carlson once again did a spectacular job in the development of this series. She has created numerous multi-dimensional characters, making the story believable. Jessica McClain, for example, is not perfect. She is a newly turned lycan/werewolf that is still learning her skills. She cares deeply for her friends and family and will do anything for them.

This is a novel that is hard to put down. It is also exciting and creative enough that it makes the reader crave the next book in the sequence. I am really glad I discovered Amanda Carson’s Jessica McClain Series. It is a must-read for any paranormal fan.

Interview:

I would like to thank Amanda Carlson for taking some time to stop by and discuss a little about herself and her work.

What is your typical day like?

I wake up around 7:30 am and get the kids off to school. I’m usually at my desk by 8:45. Then it’s a little social media time followed by my best writing/editing time, depending on what I’m working on. I’m much more productive in the mornings, so I try to make that work.

Who or what inspired you to be a writer?

I had a love of reading as a young girl. I started writing my own stories in about 7th grade. I would take the yearbook and pick out faces and create their story. I’ve been writing my entire life. For me, it’s more about having to write than not write.

How do you overcome writer’s block?

I’ve found, personally, if you set a daily word count goal there is no true writer’s block. Whatever you write on a day you feel uninspired is free to suck, lol, but you can still get words on the page. On the days when my brain feels too full to write, I excuse myself and take a break. Writer’s need to refresh themselves. Deadlines can be grueling and some days it’s more about resting your head.

What is your favorite part of COLD BLOODED?

That’s a hard one. When I reread COLD for the final time it gave me chills in a few places. I’d have to say nothing can really beat when Jess and Rourke are in the circle together.

Who is your favorite character in the Jessica McClain Series and why?

It has to be Jessica. She’s the force behind the series. She started it off for me with her shift. I love writing her.

What do you prefer paperback, hardcover, or ebooks?

I’m a recent ebook convert. If you had asked me a year ago, I would’ve said paperback (easier to hold). But my Kindle is my new favorite toy! I’m not above immediate gratification either.

What are your current projects?

I have a few “secret” projects in the works, but there will be more Jessica books. Stay tuned to my author facebook page for more news.

Thanks for having me stop by! COLD BLOODED releases in three weeks and I’m so excited to share it with the world.
